About the Role

The Associate Engineer role concentrates on the design, development and enhancement of systems-on-chip (SoC) as well as hardware-based solutions. The responsibilities span multiple areas that include connectivity, modems, multimedia and image processing, computer vision software implementation, and hardware acceleration. Candidates are expected to engage in thorough technical analysis, transform new ideas into models and work with teams of cross-functional experts to create high-impact products.

The most important areas of work are:

  • SoC and hard macro Physical Design: Creating as well as optimizing layouts of physical components for complicated SoC architectures.
  • SoC Validation & Debugging: ensuring robust functionality by rigorous testing and problem-solving.
  • Analogue Layout and RF: Layouts are created for analogue and radio frequency components.
  • RF/Analogue/Mixed Power/Signal IC Design: the process of creating solid and robust circuit designs.
  • Low-Power Design: Optimizing systems to improve energy efficiency.
  • Board as well as FPGA Design: Construction and testing of hardware platforms.
  • Digital ASIC Design: Crafting digital application-specific integrated circuits.
  • SoC/Design Verification: Validating designs to ensure they meet the requirements for reliability and performance.
  • Solutions Engineering for CAD: The development of methods and tools to automate design.
  • The Design for Test (DFT): Insuring the testability of complex systems.
  • CPU Design: Innovating processor architectures for next-generation devices.

This position requires the ability to think critically, strong analytical skills as well as a drive to push the boundaries of technology. The candidates will be involved in projects that directly impact the performance and effectiveness of Qualcomm’s world-class products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience or coursework in verifying SoCs with embedded RISC/DSP processors or communication/networking ASICs.
    • Expert proficiency in Verilog or VHDL, C/C++, as well as scripting languages such as Tcl, Perl, or shell scripting.
    • A knowledge of object-oriented programming, or RTL design fundamentals.
    • A working knowledge of wireless/wired communications protocols or multimedia technologies (graphics/video) is an advantage.
    • Expertise in PLL, LNA, OpAmp, CMOS, ADC/DAC, Cadence, SpectreRF, or the layout methods for RF/Analogue/Mixed signal Design of ICs.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills are strong.
    • Effective communication in writing and speech.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Hands-on experience with low-power design techniques, FPGA prototyping, or CPU architecture design.
