IBM Big Hiring Drive 2025 – Research Intern – AI

IBM Big Hiring Drive 2025: The Summer Internship Program offered by IBM Research India offers a unique opportunity for students from top technical universities within India to gain practical industry knowledge as they collaborate on cutting-edge research projects. This program, which is the foundation part of the University Relation Program, provides access to cutting-edge technologies and promotes the development of young people, allowing them to demonstrate their talents under the supervision of skilled instructors. Interns work on real-time projects in IBM Research India labs, working on difficult problems and gaining insights into how companies operate while being assessed as potential future employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with mentors on ongoing research projects in fields such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and data science.
  • Create and implement creative solutions using cutting-edge technology and programming tools.
  • Use large databases to analyse and manipulate to gain valuable insight.
  • Utilize the knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch to create and improve models.
  • Make use of your proficiency in Python, Pandas, and NumPy to perform efficient analysis and processing of data.
  • Use Generative AI frameworks such as LangChain or CrewAI to investigate the latest AI applications.
  • Make use of platforms like Watsonx.ai or something similar to test and deploy AI models.
  • Solve problems in the structured processing of data and ensure the performance of models is robust.
  • Recognize and reduce risks associated with AI deployments, for example, unwanted behaviours of AI agents.
  • Manage your version control with Git and follow guidelines for software development.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or similar fields from an accredited technical institution in India.
  • Programming Skills: Excellent skills in Python with a particular focus on Pandas as well as NumPy for analysis and manipulation of data.
  • Technical Know-how: A solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and techniques for problem-solving.
  • Mathematics Foundations: A solid understanding of linear algebra, probabilities and statistics to assist AI/ML modelling development.
  • Tool Expertise: Practical experience with VS Code, Jupyter Notebooks and Git to create efficient workflows for development.
  • A/ML expertise: Expertise in unsupervised and supervised learning and classification, regression, neural networks and clustering.
  • Framework Proficiency: Expertise in AI libraries, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Experience with deep learning and the foundation model.
  • Generative AI: Experience with frameworks such as LangChain and CrewAI to build Generative AI applications.
  • Platform Experience: Experimentation with AI platforms such as Watsonx.ai or a similar platform for testing and deployment of models.
  • Data Processing: Expertise in processing unstructured information and conducting large-scale data analysis.
  • AI Safety Awareness: Knowledge of the potential risks involved in AI deployments, as well as managing suspicious AI agents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with containerization technology like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift to scale AI deployments.
  • Proficient in the use of Jupyter Notebooks to support developing models in an iterative fashion and for experimentation.
  • Solid background in fundamentals of deep learning and large-scale models of language.
  • Experienced ability to manipulating and analyse large amounts of data with Pandas and NumPy.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or previous internships that involved AI/ML frameworks.
  • Experience with advanced statistical techniques and their application to AI research.

Application Process

The candidates who are interested in the top technical schools in India must submit resumes that highlight relevant projects, coursework and technical abilities. The application must be accompanied by an explanation of the reasons for an interest in AI/ML research, as well as the extent to which the applicant’s abilities correspond with the requirements of the program. Candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an interview with a technical expert to evaluate their ability to code, problem-solving abilities and knowledge of AI frameworks.
