Key Responsibilities
A Cyber Security Analyst plays an essential function in ensuring the integrity and security of data and systems. The duties include:
- Participation of Stakeholders: Engage with other stakeholders to discuss cybersecurity issues and make concrete recommendations for improving security protocols.
- Risk Management: Maintain a register of security risks for information, as well as support external and internal audits to verify compliance with industry standards.
- Security Awareness Training: Assist in the creation, maintenance and delivery of security awareness programs that train employees about best methods of security.
- Email Security Guidelines: Provide professional advice to employees on how to spot and handle spam or phishing emails to guard against security breaches.
- Monitor and Protect: Monitoring the log sources and access to security to spot and reduce any potential threats quickly.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and implement strategies to assure continuity of operations even in security-related incidents.
- Security Monitoring: Monitor the systems for threats, intrusions or other unauthorised or illegal activity.
- Log Analysis and Forensics: Conduct thorough analyses of logs and forensics to detect unauthorised access and security vulnerabilities in the system.
- Security Evaluations: Conduct security assessments, risk analysis and root cause analysis of the incident to improve security.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this position, applicants should be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in security and cybersecurity or a similar area.
- Technical expertise: Proficient in log analysis and forensic instruments, and monitoring security systems.
- Analysis Skills: Ability to perform root cause analysis and recognise weaknesses within a complex system.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to work with all stakeholders and provide training programs.
- Certifications: Relevant certificates like CompTIA Security+, CEH or CISA are beneficial but are not required.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree is required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related area.
