Who Can Apply?
The Sparkathon is open to engineering students in India who are currently enrolled in Computer Science/ Data Science and AI/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Information Technology/ Mathematics programs. Eligible candidates include:
- Regular B.E./B.Tech students: Passing out in 2026 or 2027 (those in first and second year are not eligible).
- Full time dual degree students only: Graduating in 2026 or 2027 (no students in first, second or third years).
- Full-time M.E./M.Tech students: Graduating in 2026 (Not Applicable for the first year students)
Teams should consist of 2-4 members from the same college and each member is allowed to participate in only one team with one idea entry.

Sparkathon 2025 invites you to innovate around one of four cool themes:
- Reinvent the Shopping Experience: Create products that make the offline and online shopping experience more compelling than ever.
- Establishing Trust In Retail Through Cybersecurity – Innovate To Safeguard Customer Information, And Enable Secure Transactions.
- REINVENTING RETAIL: Modernize logistics and inventory management with technology.
- Future of Retail: Imagine disruptive tech that transforms how retail works.
Your solution must solve a big challenge in retail, prove technical feasibility and deliver large impact to Walmart’s global business.

How to Participate
Here’s how to join the Sparkathon:
- Pick a Theme: Pick one of the four themes you think your idea (or a new idea) can make the biggest impact for.
- Define the Problem: Clearly state a retail challenge and the importance of the retail industry challenge.
- Suggest a Solution: Explain an innovative, tech-enabled solution to the issue.
- Make A Video Demo: Create an engaging 2-minute video of your solution. Upload the video as unlisted on YouTube before the closing date of 30 days prior to June 5, 2025 and provide a link to it in your submission form.
Entries are judged by a panel on a variety of criteria including innovativeness, creativity, scalability, technical feasibility, impact to Walmart, and quality of the proof of concept. The finalists play in the virtual round 2 and winners will be revealed at Converge on 29 August 2025.
