About the Role

The Software Engineer on the CPD team works on developing robust, high-performance, stable, and flexible software solutions that provide incredible quality and reliability. This position requires close cooperation with the core engineers, product and support teams in order to improve the on-premise backup and management solutions. In a variety of Rubrik products, the engineer is responsible for ensuring the longevity of stability and final customer satisfaction.

The person who is in this position is expected to acquire knowledge of the product’s architecture. This involves understanding and mastering distributed job frameworks and data lifecycle management processes, as well as file systems and metadata storage. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic problem solver who thrives in an open and supportive engineering environment that encourages independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The Software Engineer on Rubrik’s CPD team will be responsible for the execution of the critical design maintenance, development, and design tasks. Principal responsibilities include:

• The development and design of top-quality software applications using programming in the C++ programming language.
• Maintaining and building tools and utility programs in Python or Scala as required to automate and integrate.
• Resolving complicated software issues efficiently, ensuring high system performance.
• Working with teams across product support, engineering, and product to develop, design and launch new features and enhancements to the product.
• The writing and updating of technical documents for internal and cross-team usage.
• Participating in periodic code reviews to ensure the best practices in coding and to ensure consistency across different systems.
• Continuously improving the quality of software by analysis of performance, testing and optimisation strategies.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in methods of software engineering, advances in distributed systems, and the latest industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or closely related fields.
• From 0 to 2 years of professional experience in the field of software development, design, or debugging.
• Expertise in the C++ programming language and the ability to navigate its environment.
• Experience with Python or Scala development for parallel or scripting projects.
• Deep understanding of multithreading, distributed systems, along parallel processing principles.
• A solid understanding of algorithms, data structures and the object-oriented design concepts.
• A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of networking, Security protocols, networking fundamentals, and software reliability issues.
• Experience with storage domain technology is preferable.
• A familiarity with operating systems like Windows or Linux.
• Experience with methodologies of software development, as well as tools for managing version control and debugging.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and debugging abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• The ability to operate in a fast-paced working environment that is collaborative while managing the demands of your own schedule.
