As a Problem Setter Intern, you will be tasked with creating high-quality coding challenges for hackathons, technical assessments, and online competitions. Your principal responsibilities will include:
- Problem Creation:
- Designing new programming challenges for public/private hackathons and technical assessments.
- Developing data structures, algorithms, and mathematical problems at various difficulty levels.
- Crafting practical programming scenarios for coding challenges.
- Problem Testing & Quality Assurance:
- Reviewing and testing problems developed by fellow problem setters to ensure their accuracy.
- Identifying and rectifying technical inaccuracies in the existing question bank.
- Ensuring all questions align with quality standards and difficulty guidelines.
- Technical Support & Documentation:
- Adding code stubs (partial codes) to guide candidates in focusing on problem-solving rather than syntax challenges.
- Addressing queries, feedback, and issue reports from candidates using the HackerEarth platform.
- Collaborating with the technical documentation team to clarify any ambiguities in problem statements.
HackerEarth Technical Engineer Recruitment Supplementary Responsibilities
- Algorithm Optimization & Research:
- Investigate and apply efficient algorithms for effective problem-solving.
- Evaluate time and space complexity to guarantee a well-balanced level of difficulty for the problems.
- Remain informed about emerging trends in competitive programming and integrate novel problem-solving methodologies into challenges.
HackerEarth Technical Engineer Recruitment Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and mathematics.
- Experience in competitive programming with a distinguished profile on platforms such as:
- HackerEarth, Codeforces, CodeChef, LeetCode, HackerRank, SPOJ, AtCoder, TopCoder (or equivalent).
- Previous involvement in problem setting or testing for coding competitions is advantageous.
- Ability to create efficient and well-structured coding solutions.
- Excellent analytical skills and a passion for coding challenges.
- Effective communication skills with the capability to articulate problem statements clearly.
