Barclays is interested in people who have a good tech background and strong knowledge across various areas. ​To be considered for this Software Engineer position, you’ll need to have:

  • Full-Stack Skills: Is there evidence you’re good at doing both front end and back end work. You will need to be proficient in Java and the Spring Ecosystem (Spring MVC, Data JPA, and Security), as well as strong integrations in both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Conversant on the Front-End: A deep understanding of React. js, JavaScript UI frameworks such as Material UI, Ant Design, and state management tools like Redux, Zustand, or Context API.
  • Runtime and Testing: Good knowledge of runtime environments, e.g., virtualisation, containers, Kubernetes. Experience in test-driven development with frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright or Selenium is a requirement.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Expertise in establishing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI. And be familiar with monitoring and observability tools (eg Grafana, ELK Stack – for logging, tracing, alerting.. etc.) is a plus.
  • Data Engineering: Built ELT pipelines and interfaced with cloud-based data lakes/data warehouse (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Security and Performance: Strong knowledge in secure coding best practices including OAuth2, CSRF/XSS protection, performance optimization practices such as JVM tuning, caching, lazy loading, rate limiting and high availability for massive data sets.
  • Cloud and Networking: Understanding of public/private/hybrid cloud such as AWS, Azure, GCP and networking areas like WAN, SD-WAN, LAN, WLAN.
