Key Responsibilities
This Java Graduate Engineer job is ideal for people who are enthusiastic about back-end programming, system design and the ability to build scalable applications. The position requires collaboration with skilled developers and project teams to develop, design and implement secure enterprise-grade solutions.
Principal responsibilities include:
- Making and maintaining applications with Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
- Effective and flexible solutions by using multiple threads and concurrent APIs.
- Implementing techniques for parallel processing to improve the performance of applications and improve their responsiveness.
- Effectively managing memory through sophisticated garbage management and memory optimisation strategies.
- Optimising and designing relational database schemas by using Oracle as well as MySQL.
- Effectively writing SQL queries to manage data analysis, performance tuning.
- Helping to improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes using modern DevOps methods.
- Employing architectural and design principles to produce code that is clean, easy to maintain and extensible.
- Assisting with the development of software products and taking part in Agile events like stand-ups, sprints, and retrospectives.
- Conducting peer code reviews and giving constructive feedback to ensure the highest standards of coding.
- Collaboration with stakeholders to understand the technical requirements and deliver flexible software solutions.
- Showing leadership skills by guiding younger team members and encouraging a culture of sharing knowledge.
Technical Skills Required
Candidates must demonstrate competence in:
- Core Java basics including object-oriented programming, handling exceptions, collections, multi-threading and.
- Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and RESTful API development.
- Database systems, such as Oracle and MySQL, with the design of schemas and optimising queries.
- Expertise in DevOps tools and pipelines for CI/CD.
- Experience with design patterns and the principles of software architecture.
- Basic knowledge of Agile methods and product development lifecycles.
- Problem-solving, debugging and fine-tuning the performance of live applications.
- Expertise in developing or maintaining desktop applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from Computer Science, Information Technology or another related field (4-year degree preferred).
- Solid analytical, logical reasoning and communication skills.
- A passion for learning about new technologies and creating high-performance applications.
- Flexibility to work in UK shift times.
- Previous experience as a project manager or intern in the development of software products will be a plus.
