What You’ll Do
As an Associate Software Engineer focused on infosec, you will work on some of the most challenging projects of your life to protect NerdWallet’s critical assets. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing: Help discover weaknesses in web and mobile applications by using ethical hacking skills and tools such as Burp Suite and Nmap.
- Security Monitoring and Incident Response: Provide support for real-time security log monitoring, threat analyses, and involvement with incident handling efforts.
- Policy Development: Help to develop and document security policies, processes and best practices in accordance with industry standards.
- Working with Teams: You will work alongside dev and ops teams to detect, assess, and reduce security threats throughout all systems and applications.
- Stay Ahead of Threats: Monitor emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities and industry trends and share those findings with the team so we can keep our guard up.
This position will provide both technical challenges and the opportunity to learn from real-world challenges, so you will not be pigeonholed in cyber security/IT.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for passionate and driven people to join our team – people with dedication who can form a cohesive unit as we tackle some of the most challenging cybersecurity problems. In order to be successful in this role, you should have:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE)– 2024/2025 pass-outs (or latest batch).
- Concentration in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or equivalent.
- 60% or above in school and college.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of network and firewall theory, encryption, and authentication.
- Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and practical experience with VAPT tools, such as Burp Suite/Nmap or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Linux commands and simple scripts in Python, Bash or PowerShell (preferred but not required).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to detail.
- Good communication and documentation to describe findings and missing links.
- Proactive, passionate about ethical hacking and security innovation.
- Certifications (Optional but Advantageous)
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CompTIA Security+, or any other equivalent cybersecurity certification/course.
